Codestral
Mistral's coding specialist. 80+ programming languages, fill-in-the-middle, low latency.
By C.W. Jameson · Published 19 May 2026 · Last reviewed 19 May 2026
Codestral is Mistral's focused answer to the coding-agent market. It supports fill-in-the-middle (FIM) completion — the ability to complete code given both preceding and following context — which is the mode that tab-completion agents use. The model covers over 80 programming languages and runs on infrastructure fast enough for inline completion.
Field signature
Fill-in-the-middle outputs that respect surrounding code context.
