Cohere · The Long-Context Stretch
Command R+
Enterprise RAG specialist. Built for retrieval pipelines, not chat.
By C.W. Jameson · Published 19 May 2026 · Last reviewed 19 May 2026
Command R+ is the model Cohere built for operators who need reliable grounding from document retrieval. The retrieval augmentation is first-class: citations are inline, grounding is verifiable, and the model is specifically trained not to hallucinate outside the retrieved context. Less capable than frontier models at generation; more reliable at staying inside the context.
