Cursor
The IDE-shaped coding agent. Tab completion, agent mode, the first $100M ARR coding tool.
By C.W. Jameson · Published 19 May 2026 · Last reviewed 19 May 2026
Cursor took the position that the IDE was the right abstraction and rebuilt VS Code around model-aware tab completion. The agent mode followed. Among coding agents it is the fastest for line-level edits and the most popular by user count; among long-horizon agents it is mid-pack.
Field signature
Tab completion appears within ~150ms even on slow models.
